Abstract

Ausgehend von der Produktivität des Stilelements Alliteration im Kommunikationsbereich der Publizistik
und Presse wird dessen sprachstilistische Variabilität sowohl auf der Sprachsystem-
als
auch auf der Textebene analysiert. Zahlreiche Beispiele belegen auf der phonemisch-
phonischen,
graphemisch-graphischen, lexikalisch-morphematischen, lexikalisch-semantischen
sowie grammatisch-
morphematischen bzw. syntaktischen Ebene nicht nur die Vielfalt
sprachlicher Mittel und
Strukturen in alliterierenden Titeln/Überschriften, sondern auch diversifizierende Funktionen, wie z.
B. Neugier, Interesse, Freude, Spaß, Hervorhebung u.a.m. Besonders in Text(e)-Bild(er)-Konglomeraten
entfalten die Alliterationen ihr pragmatisches
Potenzial, das Okkasionelles und Kreatives im
Sprachgebrauch ebenso einschließt wie Rückverweise
auf kulturelle Prägungen.

Starting from the premise that alliteration is a productive figure of speech both in journalism and
the media, this article discusses its stilistic potential from the textual and the language system
point of view. Numerous examples are provided to illustrate the multitude of linguistic means and
structures applied in titles/headlines on the various linguistic levels: phonetic-phonemic, graphemic-
graphical, lexico-morphemic, lexico-semantic and grammatical-morphemic
as well as syntactic.
These examples clearly point to the diversifying function of alliterations, e. g. for prompting curiosity,
interest, fun as well as for highlighting items. Finally, alliteration proves to have particular pragmatic
potential as occasional and creative elements when considering combinations of text and visual
elements as well as when referring to cultural background.
